Clément Lenglet to fight for his place at Aston Villa

Despite his secondary role at Aston Villa and contact from several clubs, French defender Clément Lenglet has no intention of leaving the Birmingham club in the winter transfer window. According to Press Association, the centre-back wants to take his chance to establish himself in the plans of Basque coach Unai Emery.

Currently, the player is playing in England on loan from FC Barcelona. The Catalans thought that Lenglet could relaunch himself with the Villans and thus arouse the interest of other clubs, but the reality is that, at mid-season, the defender has only been a starter three times in the Premier League.

Lenglet wants to prove his worth

Lenglet is aware that he needs to convince Emery to stay at Aston Villa. He has therefore decided to stay in Birmingham and fight for his place. The Frenchman is determined to prove that he still has the level to play in the Premier League.

A risky bet

Lenglet’s choice is a risky one. He could fail to establish himself at Aston Villa and find himself without a club at the end of the season. However, the defender is willing to take that risk to try to relaunch his career.

A possible departure at the end of the season

If Lenglet fails to establish himself at Aston Villa, he could leave the club at the end of the season. The Frenchman still has two years left on his contract with FC Barcelona, but the Catalans could sell him if he fails to regain his level.

Lenglet’s decision is a gamble, but it is one that he is willing to take. He is determined to prove that he still has the quality to play at the highest level.
