The Special One is out in the Eternal City!
José Mourinho has been sacked by Roma, just two days after a 3-1 loss to AC Milan in Serie A. The Portuguese manager led the team to victory in the Europa Conference League in his first season in 2022, but fell short in the Europa League final in 2023.
The decision marks the end of an era in the Eternal City. Following the recent defeat to AC Milan, club owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin released a statement expressing their gratitude to Mourinho for his passion and commitment. However, they believe that an immediate change is necessary in the best interests of the club. The owners wish Mourinho and his team all the best for the future:
L’AS Roma annuncia che José Mourinho e i suoi collaboratori tecnici lasceranno il Club con effetto immediato.
Ulteriori aggiornamenti riguardo la nuova guida tecnica della Prima Squadra saranno comunicati a breve.

“We thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for the passion and dedication he has shown since his arrival at the Giallorossi. We will always cherish the memories of his time in charge, but we believe that, in the best interests of the Club, an immediate change is necessary. We wish José and his staff all the best for the future.”
Roma currently sits in ninth place in Serie A after 20 matches, five points off the top four and 13 points off the podium. Last week, the team was also eliminated in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals by Lazio, their fierce rivals, with a score of 1-0.
In just over two seasons at the helm of Roma, Mourinho led the club to win the Europa Conference League and left a significant mark on the team.
