Match Preview: FC Barcelona looking to build on momentum against struggling Villarreal

FC Barcelona are looking to build on their recent momentum when they host Villarreal at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Sunday.

The Catalans came from behind to beat Real Betis 4-2 last weekend, their third consecutive victory in La Liga. They still trail leaders Girona by eight points, but they have a game in hand.

Villarreal, on the other hand, are struggling. They are just five points above the relegation zone and have lost their last three matches in all competitions.

Barcelona have a good record against Villarreal, having won eight of the last nine league meetings between the two teams. They also won the reverse fixture this season, 4-3.

Barcelona will be hoping that João Félix can continue his good form in front of goal. The Portuguese forward has scored two goals in his two home league appearances this season, both of which came in wins.

Villarreal will be looking to Alexander Sørloth to provide a spark up front. The Norwegian striker scored the opener against Majorca last weekend and has been involved in three goals in his last two league meetings with Barcelona.

A hot stat to keep an eye on is that Barcelona have scored 15 of their 40 league goals this season after the 80th minute.
