Bayern Munich: Thomas Tuchel drops a major bombshell on his future after Xavi's departure

Thomas Tuchel has been under fire in Germany for his results and the quality of play produced by Bayern Munich. In a heated context, the German coach dropped a bombshell on his future on Sunday.

The nickname “FC Hollywood” has been attached to Bayern Munich for decades, and Thomas Tuchel’s arrival a year ago hasn’t changed that. In fact, it’s only intensified the feeling, as the German coach is regularly at the center of controversy. Last year, he was in contention for a treble, but he ultimately finished the season empty-handed. This season 2023/2024 is no better.

Bayern Munich is in second place in the Bundesliga, two points behind Bayer Leverkusen. Tuchel has been criticized for the quality of his team’s play, and he has a very strained relationship with the German media, especially pundits like Dietmar Hamann and Lothar Matthäus. His relationship with the club’s management is also not at its best.

In a heated context, Tuchel dropped another bombshell. In a visit to the Bayern Munich fan club “Red Stars” in Heidenheim, the 50-year-old coach said he would be open to leaving the club in the summer, especially to go to La Liga, according to Sky Sports Germany.

“I would like to go abroad again. The Spanish league is an extraordinary championship. In my opinion, and based on my experience working with Spaniards, they are characterized by a huge sense of self-confidence. When you talk to Spanish players, you quickly feel like you are interacting with the person,” he said.

This statement is significant because Xavi announced yesterday that he would be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season. It remains to be seen how Bayern Munich’s management will react to Tuchel’s comments, and what consequences they will have.
