Bayern seals deal for Sacha Boey for €30 million

The tug-of-war between Bayern Munich and Galatasaray for Sacha Boey has finally come to an end, with the Bundesliga champions securing the signing of the French defender on Sunday.

The six-time European champions announced the deal after intense negotiations with the Turkish side over the weekend. Boey, who can also play at left-back, had become a necessity for Bayern after the club suffered a number of defensive injuries in recent months.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern paying €30 million up front and a further €5 million in potential add-ons.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Boey said in a statement released by Bayern. “It’s an honor to be able to play for a world-class club like Bayern. I’m very excited about my new team and the chance to play with all these great players. I’m a defender with an attacking mindset. I feel comfortable playing in attack and defense.”

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund added: “Sacha Boey is a very fast and physically strong right-back who covers a lot of ground in every game. He’s a fan favorite at Galatasaray, he’s developed well over the years, he has Champions League experience, and he won the Turkish league with Galatasaray last season. He will improve our quality in defense.”
