Varane and Ronaldo: A reunion on the cards? Al-Nassr make a huge offer

Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr are reportedly in pole position to sign French defender Raphael Varane, who is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the season.

The Daily Star claims that Al-Nassr have offered Varane a staggering £50 million per year to join them. The 30-year-old has struggled to make a real impact at Old Trafford since his move from Real Madrid in 2021, and he has not always been a regular in the starting lineup this season.

Varane is not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans for the future, and the player has already been offered to other clubs during this transfer window. However, the injury to Lisandro Martinez, who will be out for a couple of months, has given Varane a new chance to play a leading role in the second half of the season.

A move to Al-Nassr would see Varane reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the club in January. The two players were teammates at Real Madrid for several years, and they won the Champions League together four times.

Al-Nassr are currently second in the Saudi Pro League, and they have already raided Manchester United for signings this season. They also have Alex Telles, who played for United, and former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte in their squad.
