The world of football has been shaken by the news of Kylian Mbappé’s injury after a brutal challenge from Lilian Brassier.
PSG faced Stade Brestois 29 in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France on Wednesday night, winning 3-1. However, all eyes were on Mbappé, who received a shocking tackle from Brassier in the 69th minute.
The challenge could have shattered Mbappé’s ankle and potentially ruined his move to Real Madrid. However, the French international was able to continue playing.
“He has a pretty bad blow to his ankle and he was able to finish the game, it doesn’t seem to be too serious,” said Luis Enrique after the match.
Mbappé underwent tests immediately after leaving the field of play, and the results were reassuring for football fans around the world.
“The initial examinations of Kylian Mbappé’s ankle are quite reassuring, but a medical follow-up will be carried out on this issue on Thursday morning,” said Bruno Salomon, a journalist for ‘France Bleu Paris’.
This was clearly a relief for the PSG and Real Madrid executives, especially Florentino Pérez, who feared the worst after seeing Brassier’s challenge on the French national team captain.
Luis Enrique is likely to rest Mbappé this weekend so that he can fully recover and be at his best for the first leg against Real Sociedad.
