Benjamin Sesko: The ext Haaland?

At just 20 years old, RB Leipzig’s young Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko is already making waves in the world of football. With a release clause of just €50 million, he is a hot prospect for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Sesko has been drawing comparisons to Erling Haaland since the start of his career. Like Haaland, he is a tall, powerful striker who is also blessed with pace. He has a variety of finishes in his repertoire and, like Haaland, he began his career at RB Salzburg before moving to the Bundesliga.

Sesko made the natural step up within the Red Bull franchise by signing with RB Leipzig for a fee of around €24 million. Since his arrival in the summer, the Slovenian has scored 10 goals in 28 games, but he has only started 12 of those. Despite a lack of consistency, he is scoring a goal every 118 minutes in what is expected to be a season of adaptation for him.

In Germany, there are already questions about whether RB Leipzig will be able to keep him next summer. BILD reports that Milan and Arsenal have been monitoring him for some time, but that three big clubs have recently joined the chase. These are none other than Manchester City, FC Barcelona, and Liverpool. For Guardiola’s side, he would be a guaranteed replacement for Haaland, while at Barça or Liverpool, he could even have a more important role while continuing to develop as a player.

What makes Sesko so special?

There are a number of reasons why Sesko is so highly rated. He is a tall, powerful striker who is also blessed with pace. He has a variety of finishes in his repertoire and he is also a good passer and dribbler. He is still young, but he has already shown that he can perform at a high level in the Bundesliga.

It is too early to say where Sesko will end up, but he is certainly a player to watch in the coming years. He has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world and he is sure to be in high demand next summer.
