Everton’s first response to Barcelona’s interest in Onana

The signing of Amadou Onana, Everton player, is starting to get complicated for FC Barcelona. The Belgian international player has entered the radar of Deco, sporting director of the Catalan club, but the economic differences have not been reduced after the start of the first conversations.

In his attempt to build a physically stronger team, Deco has set his sights on this 1.95 meter tall player, who is only 22 years old and who is shining at Everton this season. The English club, with institutional problems including a points deduction, is open to the possibility of selling this player who arrived from Lille and for whom they paid 35 million euros.

Everton’s interest is to double the player’s price and has valued him at 60 million euros, an exaggerated amount for FC Barcelona, but within reach of other clubs that are also interested in the player.

Arsenal and Manchester United have already shown their interest in signing Onana next season and even in making an offer when the market opens. Both clubs have the capacity to pay the amount that Everton is asking for.

Yes to selling, but not at this price

Therefore, the English club is not very interested in the Barça option considering that Barça is only willing to pay 40 million euros, 20 less than what Everton is asking for. The English club has made it clear to FC Barcelona’s emissaries that they are not willing to lower the price as FC Barcelona wants. They are not willing to part with Onana for 40 million plus variables, which is what Barça was hoping for.
