Manchester United back away from Serhou Guirassy despite release clause

Manchester United appear to have cooled their interest in VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, according to GiveMeSport. This comes despite Guirassy’s impressive season in Germany and a relatively affordable release clause.

The Red Devils are set for a busy summer transfer window as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2023/24 campaign. With the future of manager Erik ten Hag uncertain, significant changes could be on the horizon at Old Trafford, especially following the recent minority takeover by INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Guirassy had emerged as a potential target for United, having bagged an impressive 27 goals and 2 assists in 26 appearances for Stuttgart this season. His prolific form had even caught the eye of some Premier League clubs. However, GiveMeSport sources now claim that United are no longer considering the Guinean striker, despite his release clause reportedly sitting at just €17.5 million (£15 million).

This news suggests United may be looking at more established attacking options in the upcoming transfer window. With question marks still lingering over Anthony Martial’s future and Cristiano Ronaldo nearing the twilight of his career, a new striker remains a priority for the Red Devils. Whether they can find a better fit than the in-form Guirassy at a similar price point remains to be seen.
