Real Madrid could pay an additional €31 Million for Jude Bellingham: Performance-based bonuses in Dortmund deal

Signed for €103 million last summer from Borussia Dortmund, Jude Bellingham has been a revelation for Real Madrid. In his first season at the Santiago Bernabéu, the English midfielder has showcased his immense talent, becoming the team’s most decisive player in terms of goalscoring, with 17 goals in La Liga (currently second top scorer behind Dovbyk, 1 goal behind Girona’s striker) and another 4 in the Champions League.

Bellingham’s impressive performances could see his price tag increase. In addition to the €103 million paid less than a year ago, Real Madrid could be called upon to pay another €30 million to Borussia Dortmund, as the German club has included performance-related bonuses in the agreement: if he becomes top scorer, Florentino Perez will have to pay more, the same if he is included in the Champions League’s Top 11 or in the FIFA The Best Dream Team. Bellingham’s price could rise to around €134 million. This is according to AS.

Here is what Real Madrid reported at the time of the announcement on June 7: “An agreement has been reached on the basis of €103 million in fixed fees plus bonuses up to a maximum of 30%. The transfer will be effective from July 1, with the player signing a 6-year contract until 2029.”
