Napoli move fast to keep hold of star player Kvaratskhelia

Reports from Todofichajes suggest Napoli are scrambling to tie down Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with a new contract. Their plan? Sell Victor Osimhen for a big fee, but keep hold of both their star attackers.

The idea is to cash in on the Nigerian striker Osimhen, while convincing Georgian international Kvaratskhelia to commit his future to the club with a long-term deal. It’s no secret that Kvaratskhelia, formerly of Dinamo Batumi, has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and PSG. Napoli are keen to nip these rumours in the bud before things escalate.

Insiders close to the Italian club suggest Napoli’s offer could be as high as €4 million per season. This hefty proposal is President Aurelio De Laurentiis’ attempt to hold onto his most valuable player right now.

Kvaratskhelia’s Potential Move to Barcelona

Gazzetta dello Sport reports on friday that Barcelona are highly interested in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is under contract with Napoli until June 2027.

The Georgian’s agent is expected to meet with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis next week to discuss his current contract. Barcelona are reportedly willing to offer him a salary of €4 million per year, more than triple what he currently earns at Napoli (€1.5 million). However, his entourage is reportedly demanding an annual income of €5 million.

Potential Sacrifices to Accommodate Kvaratskhelia

This potential move is unlikely to happen without sacrifice, given the state of Barcelona’s finances. Spanish newspaper AS has revealed that the club is ready to sell Frenkie de Jong this summer in order to comply with financial fair play regulations. The Dutchman is on an astronomical salary of €37 million per year. Barcelona, who had already tried to sell him in 2022, are reportedly disappointed with his sporting performance and his recurring injuries. In addition to the midfielder, the names of Ronald Araújo and Raphinha are also reportedly on the table for a possible departure.
