Real Betis eyeing Ivan Cavaleiro as potential replacement for Guido Rodriguez

The Portuguese winger could be set for a summer move to Spain as Real Betis eye a replacement for Guido Rodriguez.

Ivan Cavaleiro’s time at Lille could be coming to an end, with reports from FootMercato suggesting that Spanish club Real Betis are interested in signing the Portuguese winger this summer.

The 30-year-old, who joined Lille last summer on a one-year deal with an option for a second, quickly established himself in Paulo Fonseca’s starting lineup and was even a key contributor in midfield. However, his season was disrupted by a pubalgia injury in November, which required surgery and kept him sidelined for two months.

Cavaleiro, who spent last season on loan at Turkish side Alanyaspor, is still struggling to regain his full fitness, but that hasn’t deterred Real Betis from their interest. The Seville-based club is reportedly keen on bringing him in this summer as they prepare for the potential departure of Guido Rodriguez, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

This season, Cavaleiro has made 21 appearances for Lille, scoring one goal and providing two assists. His versatility and attacking threat could be a valuable asset to Real Betis, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming La Liga campaign.

Of course, a move to Real Betis is not yet a done deal, and there are still other clubs that could potentially enter the race for Cavaleiro’s signature. However, the interest from a La Liga side suggests that the Portuguese winger is still highly regarded, and he could be set for a fresh start in a new league.
