Barcelona: Massive turnaround for João Félix

Last summer, João Félix was loaned from Atlético Madrid to FC Barcelona. While a return of the Portuguese international to the Wanda Metropolitano seemed unlikely, there’s now a twist in the tale, according to the latest information from the Spanish newspaper AS.

João Félix Heading Back to Atlético? In July 2019, Atlético Madrid announced the signing of João Félix for a whopping 120 million euros. However, the Portuguese sensation, showing flashes of brilliance but also inconsistency, ended up at FC Barcelona last summer on a loan deal. The Lusitanian international had openly expressed his dream of joining the Catalan club. Despite not being in the good books at Atlético, Félix even scored twice against his former team. Nonetheless, a return to the Wanda Metropolitano is now on the cards, as per AS.

With a contract running until 2029 with the Colchoneros, resolving Félix’s situation promptly is imperative, as his loan expires next June. The possibility of bringing back the former Benfica Lisbon player is now tangible.

Barcelona want to keep the player, but Atlético’s asking price could be a stumbling block for the Catalans. The Madrid club is reportedly seeking around 60 million euros. This figure appears to be too high for the Blaugranas, who are still grappling with significant financial woes.
