Maguire opens up about United: “It’s been really disappointing”

In what has been one of the most disappointing campaigns in recent times, Manchester United is counting down the days to close the season as soon as possible. The English team still has the FA Cup final against Manchester City ahead, although no one at the club hides the fact that it has been a tough year regardless of the outcome at Wembley.

One of the most criticized players this season has once again been Harry Maguire. The English centre-back continues to struggle to find his best form in his fifth year at Old Trafford. Criticism has come from all corners towards the player this season, although he acknowledges that the team’s performance has been, to say the least, disappointing.

The ‘red devils’ finished eighth in the English championship standings, a position not seen in Manchester for a long time: “It’s been a really disappointing season. Everyone will admit that,” Maguire sincerely assessed.

Hope for the future

The English centre-back has acknowledged that it has been a tougher year than previous ones: “As a team, this season has been much tougher than last year. If you don’t get good results, players are scrutinized, linked with an exit. They are sold, put on the transfer list, and the coach is under pressure. I’ve been here for five years, I know what happens,” he explains.

Despite everything, the defender remains hopeful of being able to turn the situation around under Ten Hag: “He has enough experience to know he can deal with it.” Maguire is racing against time to be fit for the FA Cup final against Manchester City this Saturday: “I’m doing everything I can to get back involved. Even if I only return to training the day before the match, I want to participate,” he commented. A match that will decide the season for a disappointing Manchester United.
