OFFICIAL: Lopetegui confirms his return to the Premier League!

A new chapter unfolds in the unique merry-go-round of managerial chairs we’re witnessing in this final stretch of the season. While some depart, others arrive to take their place, as if playing a game of musical chairs.

The latest to confirm his position for the upcoming season is Julen Lopetegui, who has been without a team since last August when he left his role at Wolves, marking the end of his spell in the Premier League. Or was it just a pause?

It had been an open secret, but Julen Lopetegui will be the next coach of West Ham. This was announced by the ‘hammer’ outfit: “Welcome the new head coach of West Ham United. Welcome to London, Julen Lopetegui.”

He will thus take over from David Moyes, who had been in charge for five years, leading the team to European qualification for three consecutive years and clinching the Conference League title.

Ever since leaving English competition, Lopetegui’s intention had been to return to England. He was even in talks with Nottingham Forest before they appointed Nuno Espírito Santo.

His signing had been secured for several weeks, but it wasn’t made official until David Moyes departed.

The former coach of Spain, Porto, Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Wolverhampton Wanderers will officially start working with the Hammers on July 1st.

He will be joined by Pablo Sanz (assistant coach), Óscar Caro (performance manager and assistant coach), Juan Vicente Peinado (analysis manager and assistant coach), Borja De Alba (fitness coach), and Edu Rubio (technical coach). Xavi Valero will continue as the Men’s First Team Goalkeeper Coach.

“I am very happy, first of all, to be part of the future of this great Club,” said Lopetegui. “We will try to leave our mark on the Club.”

“I am where I want to be. I am here because I want to be here, and it was a fantastic day for us when we finalized our agreement here because our commitment is 100% to be here,” he expressed.
