Real Madrid is already facing a major problem with Kylian Mbappé

As Kylian Mbappé prepares to play his final match with PSG on Sunday against Lyon, Real Madrid is already grappling with an issue prior to his official announcement.

This Sunday, Kylian Mbappé (25 years old) will bring an end to his long, eventful journey with Paris Saint-Germain. The French international has the opportunity to clinch one final trophy with his club, the Coupe de France, against Olympique Lyonnais in Lille (9:00 PM), before joining Real Madrid. However, while the French captain and his entourage have stated that he will indeed be heading abroad, the name of the Madrid club has not yet been uttered.

According to AS, Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé have reportedly agreed during the final negotiations for his contract that the French striker should keep a low profile during his public appearances and refrain from mentioning Real Madrid, at least until June 3. This is to allow time for digestion after the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1. It’s also to avoid being offensive towards PSG, with whom he remains under contract until June 30.

Waiting for the Blues and PSG

Thus, it’s after the Champions League final that the countdown will begin to await the official announcement of Kylian Mbappé’s transfer to Real Madrid. Or so the Madrid club hoped. According to the Spanish media, Real Madrid is facing a setback in being able to announce the arrival of its new star. Indeed, as he will soon join the French national team’s base camp for Euro 2024, an agreement from the French team would be needed for Mbappé to travel to Madrid during the week of June 3 to 9, which still seems difficult to achieve.

AS also adds that presenting him after the Wembley final could lead to a legal conflict with PSG, as the Ligue 1 top scorer is still under contract until June 30. It would require the Parisian star and his current club to sign a termination agreement instead of allowing his current contract to expire, as a presentation during the first week of June could prompt PSG to file a complaint. Kylian Mbappé will have to wait a little longer before becoming a Real Madrid player.
