Bayer Leverkusen set to make a major transfer gift to Xabi Alonso

According to German and Spanish media reports, the German champions have already secured a major deal ahead of the summer transfer window.

What a season! Admittedly, losing the Europa League final to Atalanta has somewhat tarnished this historic end to the campaign for Leverkusen, but it doesn’t diminish the historic season achieved by Xabi Alonso’s men on the national stage. However, as is often the case in such epic journeys, the German club risks becoming a victim of its success, potentially attracting interest from big European clubs eyeing its top talents. For now, Xabi Alonso still knows he can rely on Florian Wirtz next year.

And it seems like the management is keen to spoil the Spaniard, ensuring his team remains competitive when the new season kicks off. As indicated by several German and Spanish media outlets such as Sky Sport and Mundo Deportivo, Bayer Leverkusen has secured the signing of Aleix Garcia, the 26-year-old midfielder from Girona and also a Spanish international.

A nice transfer

A key player and playmaker for the Catalan side, the former Manchester City player has already reached an agreement with the Bundesliga winners, who have also found common ground with the sensation of the season in La Liga. Bayer will shell out an amount between 15 and 20 million euros for the player who will travel to Germany to compete in the Euros with his national team.

Xabi Alonso has managed to convince the Catalan, who played 37 La Liga matches this season, providing 6 assists and scoring 3 goals. A great move for Leverkusen, as the player was coveted by other big clubs, such as Barcelona and Atlético. And a big blow for Girona, who will now have to find a new playmaker.
