Clement Lenglet has two offers from Arabia to leave Barça

Clement Lenglet is one of the hot potatoes that Barça has to solve in this summer transfer window. The player returns from his loan spell at Aston Villa and does not enter into Hansi Flick’s plans for the new sporting project, so he will be looking for an exit due to the overcrowding in the center-back position. The Blaugrana club is already handling two proposals from Saudi Arabia for the French footballer and wants a quick outcome, but Lenglet continues to prioritize staying in Europe and the soap opera may drag on.

Barça’s idea is to finalize Lenglet’s contractual situation after two consecutive loans. The player renewed his contract until 2026, including the amounts that he deferred from his salary due to the pandemic, so he has one of the highest salaries on the Blaugrana squad. That is why Barça does not want to enter into another loan paying part of the salary and believes that the best option is Arabia where, even, an interesting transfer could be generated.

Lenglet’s position is different and he wants to wait for a loan move in the European market. He is handling the interest of some Premier League teams, but they would not pay the full salary, so the operation is not too interesting for Barça. Sevilla also showed interest at the time and we will have to see how this whole situation turns out. Barça would even be willing to give him the letter of freedom if it saves the two years of salary that he has left.

Last summer, Lenglet already had a firm offer from Al Nasr of Saudi Arabia and did not even want to negotiate despite being pressured to accept. The player prioritized staying at Tottenham but there was no agreement and, finally, he ended up on loan to Aston Villa although he has not been able to have regularity during the season and has been a substitute.
