Kalvin Phillips offers himself to Barça

Barcelona are drawing up various scenarios for reinforcements pending their economy and being able to enter the famous 1-1 rule that would facilitate signings by having a salary limit. The absolute priority is to sign one or two midfielders and one of them would be Guido Rodríguez with the letter of freedom although the operation must be closed. The idea is to sign a world-class pivot but it is not known if it will be possible and the club is receiving offers from various profiles. One of them is Kalvin Phillips, a footballer who is on the market and for whom Barça was already interested in the January market.

Kalvin Phillips went out on loan in the winter market to West Ham, where he has performed well. City do not count on him and the footballer is open to leaving the Premier League to live a new professional experience. In principle, City want to sell him for around 30 million euros, but it is likely that he will end up going out on loan again and the player would love to join Barça because he is convinced that it is a team that suits his game perfectly.

The Blaugrana club’s sporting director highly values the footballer and, in fact, Xavi Hernández had given the OK to his arrival in January but Barça then prioritized the signing of Vitor Roque, who wiped out all the available salary limit due to Gavi’s injury. Kalvin Phillips had also given his OK to Barça, but finally did not decide to wait until the last days of the market in the face of the Blaugrana’s economic difficulties and opted for West Ham’s proposal, where he has been an important player.

Kalvin Phillips has several proposals from Premier League teams to continue his career, but he would prioritize leaving England as long as there is a powerful Champions League sporting project that is betting on him. At Barça they know about the player’s desire but for now they are not going to make any move. The aim is to tie down Guido Rodríguez in the coming days and wait to see how the market evolves and, above all, try to have a salary limit to tackle an important operation in that area of the field.

The club’s number one target is to sign Kimmich as long as the German international does not reach a renewal agreement with the Bavarian club. Kimmich wanted to resolve his future before the European Championship but knows that it will be difficult as Barça are tied hand and foot by the salary limit and until July it is difficult for them to move in the market. The German is now going to talk to Bayern and could decide whether or not to renew. If there is no agreement, the German club will decide to sell him because he is out of contract in 2025 and they do not want him to leave on a free transfer. Kimmich is handling interest from other teams such as City or PSG, but he is very attentive to Hansi Flick’s Barça.
