Barça in no rush for Javi Guerra

Barça sporting director Deco met with Iñaki Peña’s agent Javier Garrido in mid-May. The meeting took place at the Blaugrana club’s offices and the future of the Valencian goalkeeper was discussed. Both parties were satisfied as the club rates him highly and the goalkeeper is also comfortable as an alternative to Ter Stegen. The summer is long, but the intention is to continue together.

However, during that meeting, the name of Javi Guerra also came up. The Valencia midfielder is on the technical secretariat’s agenda as a possible reinforcement. Deco asked directly about his situation and, although he didn’t go much further because Barça are still tied hand and foot, the sporting director showed his real interest in the player and expressed it to his representative.

The 21-year-old Valencian player, who turned 21 in May, is not only attracting the attention of the Blaugrana team but has also aroused the interest of several major clubs. Valencia sources say that his asking price would be around 25 million euros, although for the time being, Barça have not taken any further steps to bring the player to the squad that Hansi Flick will coach. At the moment, beyond the economic circumstances, the priorities are elsewhere.

The door remains open

In fact, his agent recently met with Valencia’s sporting directors, but Javi Guerra’s future was not on the agenda. His agency, Wakai, has several Valencian players as clients and the reason for the meeting was another. In fact, since the visit to Barça’s offices, there has been no further contact between the two parties. It is not a name that Deco has forgotten, let alone ruled out, but everything will depend on how the summer transfer market evolves. In any case, the door to Javi Guerra remains open…
