The captain has decided to leave the club of his life after 23 years. He will now embark on a new adventure in Saudi Arabia, where they are offering him the last big contract of his life.
Nacho Fernández signed a 2-year contract yesterday with Al Qadsiah, which offers him a salary of 10 million euros net per season. At 34 years old, after his entire career as a Real Madrid player, he has made the decision to accept the offer and put an end to his time in the elite.
The club fully understands his decision. Next season, Nacho’s role would once again be more secondary, and the renewal offer was not as good, economically speaking, as Al Qadsiah’s.

Real Madrid C. F. announces that our captain Nacho has decided to end his career as a Real Madrid player. Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection to Nacho, one of the great legends of our club.
Nacho joined Real Madrid in 2001, at the age of just 10, and has played in all the categories of our academy until becoming a first-team player in 2012. Since then, he has worn our shirt for 12 seasons in one of the most successful periods in Real Madrid’s history. In all this time he has played 364 games and has won 26 titles: 6 European Cups, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey trophies and 5 Spanish Super Cups. In addition, with the Spanish national team he was proclaimed European Under-21 champion and Nations League champion, and he is currently playing in the Euro 2024 in Germany.
Nacho ends his career at Real Madrid as the captain who lifted the Decimoquinta at Wembley, as one of the five players who have won 6 European Cups in the entire history of football and with the most titles in the history of our club. All Real Madrid fans feel the utmost pride for one of the most legendary academy players in our history.
The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, states that “Since he arrived at our academy as a child, Nacho has always been an example of improvement for everyone and he takes with him the love, recognition and admiration of all Madrid fans. Real Madrid is and always will be his home.”
