Argentina and adidas announce an ‘eternal’ contract

Adidas and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) have announced the extension of one of the longest-lasting partnerships in international sport. With the new agreement, the union between AFA and adidas will be extended for another 14 years, until 2038.

AFA and adidas have been together since 2001, and have dressed the men’s, women’s and youth teams during great historical moments such as the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup, the 2022 Finalissima and – historically – the 1978 FIFA Men’s World Cup and the Argentine women’s national team’s first appearance at the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Commenting on the new agreement, AFA President Claudio Tapia said: “We are delighted to agree on a new partnership with adidas until 2038. Our partnership spans decades and this long-term commitment helps us as an organisation to grow the success of our teams and invest in our communities”.

“We are proud of the recent successes we have shared together, but we will continue to focus on growing our game and on-field performance: in all these aspects and many more, adidas is the perfect partner for us,” he added.

adidas CEO Bjoern Gulden said: “The AFA, current FIFA Men’s World Cup champions, is one of the most successful federations in history. We have celebrated many successes together and are very proud to announce that we will continue our cooperation until at least 2038”.
