Copa América: Linesman faints due to heat

The United States is experiencing a heatwave during the Copa America. While the players are inevitably affected in their game, the referees are also disturbed by these high temperatures. Yesterday, the Canada-Peru match was played in the afternoon in Kansas City, in a climate of around 35-39°C with 51% humidity. While Canada won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Jonathan David, an assistant referee fell victim to the extreme temperatures.

Humberto Panjoj fainted during the match, before Canada goalkeeper Max Crépeau reacted and alerted the medical team. The assistant was unable to continue the match and left the field on a stretcher. According to South American media, Humberto Panjoj is now doing well, but the heat, as well as the afternoon schedules, inevitably raise questions.
