Kylian Mbappé cried in front of Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s no secret that Kylian Mbappé is an unconditional fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. The photo of the Bondy native in his room surrounded by photos of the Portuguese star on his walls is known to everyone. But as a child, the Frenchman’s admiration for CR7 turned into obsession, to the point of tears.

In today’s edition, L’Équipe reveals an anecdote about the day Mbappé went to see Ronaldo play at the Stade Vélodrome (Marseille) on a December night in 2009. That night, Marseille was hosting Real Madrid in the Champions League and little Kylian, aged 10, was ecstatic to see his favorite player score a brace.

However, his wish was to be able to get closer to him. While a friend who accompanied him managed to sneak into the car park, he was met with closed doors and prohibitions. Disappointed, Kylian Mbappé started to cry.

The story will eventually end well, since after a few minutes of waiting, Cristiano appears and agrees to take a photo with him. On Friday evening, at 9pm, during the Euro 2024 quarter-final between France and Portugal, admiration will no doubt be put aside.
